Chris Leo (us, ex Van Pelt / The Lapse)  Indie bad-boy? Literary minstrel? The mythology has many permutations -decide for yourself. Vague Angels is Chris Leo’s current moniker. Fans of Chris Leo’s former projects (The Lapse, The Van Pelt, Native Nod) will recognize his distinct blend of verbosity and musical virtuosity on his new efforts. With Strange lyrical narratives and dense arrangements, Vague Angels sounds like the culmination of a style and sound that he’s been developing for years. Chris took time off from performing music to write a pair of novels. The first, White pigeons, includes the album Truth Loved. The album functions as chapter 7 of the novel and is performed by the book’s fictitious band The Breaks, Played by Vague Angels. And he’s already planning a second disc that will stand in for the final chapter of his next novel, 57 Octaves. Jasper TX (GBG)  Jasper TX's debut is a warm instrumental album filled with sentiment and an introverted melancholy. Influenced by Sigur-Ros' post-rock and Fennesz's guitar experimentations, swedish Dag Rosenqvist uses -apart from guitar, field recordings, mellow piano rolls and organ, processing them to create deiicate and organic songs that ebb and flow, eternally trapped in static. Why would a Swedish musician choose the name of a Texas county as his moniker? Well, if you have the conscious and sensitive psyche that Dag Rosenqvist has, it's no wonder you'd want, through music, to pay your respect to a man who lost his life because of his skin colour. Music has always been a part of Dag's life, with double bass studies and participation in bands from an early age. It wasn't until moving to Gothenburg at his late teens though that his passion for music was truly manifested. A fascination for recording started with a borrowed 4-track cassette recorder, on to which the first songs were captured and Jasper TX was born. Dag's interest in recording continued to grow and led to a Sound Engineering degree and the building of his own studio. A true dedication to analogue gear and lo-fi aesthetics is at the core of Dag's musical heart and Jasper TX's music. A deep understanding of sound allows him to build rich sonic textures extrapolated from various sources. A multi-instrumentalist, he places guitar at the centre of his songs, to which he then adds organ, drums, toy piano, field recordings, voice and of course many layers of effects. Taking his influences from a variation of genres and techniques (post rock, ambient and folk music, western religious musical patterns, processed/filtered instruments and field recordings) Jasper TX references a number of artists, from Fennesz and Sigur Ros to Mum and compatriots Tape, while staying true to his creative vision. Jeniferever (Uppsala)   "Att Jeniferever har gjort en hel hög med spelningar i England och ligger på en engelsk label gör att man kan missta dem för ett band från öarna i Nordsjön. Så är dock inte fallet, denna kvintett kommer från Uppsala, har hållt på rätt länge men det är väl först nu som bitarna börjar falla på plats. Iris är en ambitiös skiva, här samsas både genomarbetade blås och stråkarrangemang med dom slamriga trummorna och gitarrerna i ljudbilden. Fyra låtar klockar in på dryga 36 minuter. I första spåret "You Only Move Twice" har de hittat den perfekta balansen av postrock och indie, allt genomsnyggt utfört. För att inte tala om stråkarna som kommer in efter fyra och en halv minut.
